Terry Clark says farewell and tells us about his new post in Bolton

Moving on to new challenges

After nine and a half years on the staff of Whitfield Parish, in February 2010 I have moved on to take up the post of Team Rector of Deane Parish in Manchester Diocese.

Deane has two church buildings ― Deane Church (St Mary's) and St Andrew's, Over Hulton ― and there are three clergy already there: a team vicar and two OLMs. I will be based at Deane Church, on the west side of Bolton, a few minutes from junction 5 of the M61, just south of the Reebok Stadium and less than a mile from Bolton University campus.

I am sad to be leaving so many friends here in Glossop but am very excited about starting the new job. It is a big job with lots of challenges, heading up the parish team as well as specifically pastoring Deane Church. Please pray that God would prepare me for, and sustain me through, this year ahead.

John Tilsley, a former vicar of Deane, had the distinction of being ejected from his living by both Oliver Cromwell and Charles II. Another preacher at Deane Church and native of the parish, George Marsh, was martyred in 1555 for refusing to accept the Roman rites. Let's pray that preaching the gospel of grace there these days is less hazardous!
