LIFE groups are small groups of church members (normally 6-12 people in a group) who meet together regularly in Glossop with the following four aims:

Learning. Principally through Bible study, which needs to be at the heart of their meetings.

Intercession. Praying for each other, for other churches in Glossop and for the wider church, community and world.

Fellowship. This being more than friendship, since as members together of the body of Christ we seek to encourage one another in the Christian life.

Evangelism. Through prayer and practical action. Through group initiatives and by supporting outreach projects of the wider church.

Each group has a leader and, usually, a co- or assistant- leader. Under, and working with, the LIFE groups coordinator and clergy, each LIFE group leader has a pastoral responsibility for the members of his/her group. LIFE groups meet each week during 'term time', except for those weeks when there is a parish prayer meeting, and possibly at other times. We encourage all believers who are regular members of our churches to join a LIFE group, and any one LIFE group may contain members from both St James' and St Luke's congregations.

LIFE group members have a responsibility to:

  1. Regularly attend meetings of their group and, as far as possible, to let their group know if they are unable to be at a meeting.
  2. Treat in confidence information which is shared in confidence in the group.
  3. Seek to use their gifts to minister to each other in the group.
  4. Play their part in the life and witness of our St James' - St Luke's fellowship.
