The Whitfield Parish churches in Glossop believe that marriage is God's plan for a man and a woman to live together in a fulfilled relationship and in which children may be raised in a safe and loving environment. In the 21st century, it seems that this way of life is under attack from many different angles, from the high divorce rate (around 40%) to the cynical approach of many soaps on television.
We believe that with proper support and understanding, marriage can be a lifelong experience of fellowship, fun, and fulfilment for the husband and wife, and marriage is the best place in which to bring up children. We have marriage courses and activities that are real fun times, and times where a couple can learn more about each other. The church is committed to offer this support for its members and those who come through its doors for their weddings. So how does it work?
We do this for three different times in a relationship:
For couples about to be married - Marriage Preparation
For married couples who want to make a good marriage even better -Marriage Enrichment
For couples undergoing some relationship difficulties - Marriage Rebuild
Each of these support mechanisms is tailored to provide the right kind of support at the right time for the couple involved and each is part of a National programme of marriage support.
